GS1 Product Photography New York Retail-Ready Images
Getting your products into Walmart, Target, Kroger, or US Foods? Your product images need to meet GS1 standards or they get rejected. We shoot GS1-compliant product photography in New York, serving CPG brands across the tri-state area including New Jersey's dense corridor of CPG headquarters and distribution centers.
No GS1-certified product photography studio has existed in the NY/NJ metro area until now. If you've been shipping products to Chicago or Arizona for compliant images, that's over.
What We Shoot
Planogram Images (All 6 Faces)
Every major retailer requires straight-on shots of all six sides of your product for shelf planning and online listings:
- Face 1: Front (hero image, largest surface with product name)
- Face 2: Left side
- Face 3: Top
- Face 7: Back panel
- Face 8: Right side
- Face 9: Bottom
All faces shot at 0-degree plunge angle, pure white background (RGB 255/255/255), minimum 2500 x 2500px.
Marketing Angles
- 15-degree top elevation on marketable faces
- Left and right 15-degree rotation views
- Used for ecommerce product detail pages and digital marketing
Informational Images
- Nutrition facts panel (high-resolution, readable)
- Ingredient list
- Barcode/UPC closeup
- Certifications (organic, kosher, non-GMO, etc.)
- Texture and detail shots
Foodservice Images
Selling through US Foods, Sysco, or PFG? Foodservice requires additional image types beyond standard retail:
- Closed case: All angles of the sealed shipping case
- Open case: Case opened showing contents inside
- Inner pack: Individual bag or container from inside the case
- Raw/uncooked: Product out of packaging, uncooked state
- Prepared/cooked: Product cooked per recommended method
- Plated: Prepared food arranged for presentation
GS1 File Naming and Formatting
GS1 requires a strict file naming convention tied to your GTIN. Every image we deliver follows the standard:
[14-digit GTIN]_[Image Type][Face Number][Orientation][Packaging State].tiff
We handle all of this. You give us your GTINs and products. We deliver correctly named, properly formatted files ready for GDSN upload. No reformatting on your end.

Retailers That Require GS1-Compliant Images
If you're selling into any of these retailers, your images need to meet GS1 standards:
- Walmart - Content Quality Score below 60 means your product gets deprioritized in search. Non-compliant images get auto-rejected.
- Target - Requires GS1-compliant GTINs and image standards for all product listings.
- Kroger - Moving to stricter digital content requirements through Kroger Item API.
- US Foods - Automated approval process rejects non-compliant file names on upload.
- Sysco - GDSN-based submission requires GS1-compliant images.
- Costco, Whole Foods, Aldi, Publix - All major grocery chains require or strongly prefer GS1 compliance.
Products without compliant images get rejected, delisted, or buried in search results. Walmart can levy a 3% COGS penalty for content non-compliance.
Syndication Platform Ready
We deliver files formatted for direct upload to the major content syndication platforms:
- Syndigo / 1WorldSync - GDSN data pool, connects to 80+ retailers
- Salsify - PXM platform, strong with DTC brands moving to retail
If you're already working with a syndication platform, we format deliverables to match their upload requirements. If you're not on a platform yet, we can advise on which one fits your distribution.
Add 360 Spin Photography
GS1 standards support 360-degree spin imagery (minimum 24 frames, up to 360). We're a 360 spin photography studio first - it's what we do every day. Bundle your GS1 still images with a 360 spin for a complete product content package.
360 spins are especially valuable for products sold through Home Depot, Grainger, Walmart, and other retailers that support interactive product views.
